Boxes are more fun then toys

This morning we caught a teeny tiny toad.  It was jumping out of the children's hands and they thought that was great.  I let it go down by the entrance to the gate where the creek is and the children wondered how it could disappear so quickly.  we also made a sunshine craft.  The boys played soccer with Mike.  I played basketball with the girls and I had fun crawling after the babies.  The children are enjoying the summer but it gets hot quickly. 

It's been hot and humid but the children have been just wonderful.  Our big water slide and the hose have been a Heaven sent.  We've been doing a lot of painting, some crafts and we made some zucchini bread.  The children love for me to read to them and there so good about sitting and listening to the books.  Were waiting for a dry day to play kick ball again in the back yard.  The babies enjoy watching the older kids run around the bases and giggle as they come by them and make funny faces and sing to them. 

4th of July week

This week is a short week with the 4th of July weekend upon us.  We made some 4th of July Crafts,  and some 4th of July cupcakes with lots of red, white, and blue sprinkles.  It's been very humid and rainy so we haven't  been able to get out much.  We've been playing games inside and the kids have been telling me some scary stories. 

Today was so fun.  I helped the older children make stepping stones to bring home and put in there gardens.  I played ball with the little ones outside and sprinkled them with the hose while the older children were able to go on our huge water slide.  I'm feeding a large group so meal time is fun- were doing it family style and the children really seem to be enjoying themselves.

I haven't been very good about updating my blog but  I will try harder to do so.  Today is the last day of elementary school and we will have 3 before and after school children with us for the summer.  We are full for the summer and with a mixture of ages it really feels like a family environment.  I'm enjoying it a lot.  I made cupcakes with my older children today-Dreamsicle.  Boy oh Boy were they Delicious.  I have some plans for crafts and games for the children for the summer.  This morning I played kick ball with the 3 and 4 yr olds.  I sang some songs with the toddlers and Infants and they had a ball chattering back at me.  The children love eating strawberries as they pick them out of my strawberry bedse  every afternoon for the last 2 weeks we have been  doing that.  The children have been helping me water my plants and vegetables and they're growing very nicely.
